On the anniversary of the Kahramanmaraş-centred earthquakes of 6 February 2023, we remember with respect and sorrow the great disaster that left deep scars in our hearts in Türkiye and the TRNC.
In this disaster, thousands of our citizens across Türkiye lost their lives, together with the 35-strong group of students, teachers and parents of Gazimağusa Türk Maarif College who were in Adıyaman for a sports competition. The “Champion Angels” have taken an unforgettable place in our people’s shared memory.
As the Foreign Press Association, we remember with mercy and longing all those who lost their lives in the earthquake, and wish patience to their families and loved ones.
We have not forgotten. We will not let it be forgotten.
